Artist, designer, director, founder of Universal Everything

My working environment exists between the wilderness of the Peak District National Park and the studio of Universal Everything, the digital art and design collective I founded in 2004.

With a background in technical and botanical illustration, graphic design and animation, I work across mediums from painting to film, installation to 3D printing.

Working with intensive colour, shape, sound and movement to amplify emotions, my recurring theme is the tension between abstract and figurative — seeking that critical moment when clarity emerges from chaos — a face, a figure, a word or a landscape.

My influences range from the studies of perception in Cognitive Science, the emergent life of Anthropomorphism, the sublime grandeur of Romanticism and the vibrant energy of Futurism.

My work has exhibited worldwide including Sydney Opera House, MOMA NYC, V&A Museum, Science Museum, Barbican, Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture - Moscow, La Gaite Lyrique and Art Basel HK.

Today, my work continues to explore the possibilities of visual perception and seeking new forms of moving image.
